Stages, impressions, and checkpoints

Before starting

Preparation with the Specialized Roubaix

Alexander Schmitz received his Specialized Roubaix S-Works and started racking up training kilometers for the Northcape 4000.

Training

Endurance as Preparation

Even before the start, the project involved thousands of training kilometers and extensive preparation.

Start

Start towards North Cape

The fourth edition of the Unsupported Bicycle Adventure started on 24.07.2021.

On the go

First Few Days: Heat, Kilometers, and Checkpoints

The first stages show how tough such distances can be: long days, heat, supplies, and initial checkpoints.

Checkpoint

Krakow and the second stamp

Krakow was reached as an important checkpoint. Stamps, tracking, and daily mileage show the progress.

Catering

Everyday Life on Long Haul Flights

Snacks, pizza and small stops are as much a part of the story as the kilometres when covering such daily distances.

Finland

Towards the Arctic Circle

The further north the route led, the more special the landscape, places, and encounters became.

End stage

Day 12 and the last big sections

The pictures show the last part of the journey: stamps, coastal roads, morning mood and the proximity to the North Cape.

Final

Almost there: North Cape in sight

The tracking shows the last kilometers on Magerøya. The destination is almost reached.

Goal

Done: Arrival at North Cape
